BiggerVegas is one of the most popular social event for the gay bear and chub community and their admirers (chasers). It's a place where those with a bigger figure to embrace their natural curves and live their best life authentically without the fear of being harassed.

So, after years of following the photos and stories online, I finally took the plunge this summer and experienced BiggerVegas for the very first time. Let me just say: this event isn’t just a weekend—it’s a powerful, non-stop celebration of community, confidence, and connection, all set against the sun-baked backdrop of Las Vegas. If you’ve ever considered attending, consider this your official push!

From checking in and collecting my event lanyard, the atmosphere was electric. As a first-timer, I was initially nervous, but those jitters vanished the second I stepped into the dedicated social hub, the BiggerCity Lounge. This was the heart of the convention, a place where barriers dissolved instantly. The air was thick with laughter and the sound of new friends being made, fuelled by an excellent open bar.

The overwhelming takeaway, however, was the profound sense of body acceptance and self-love permeating every space. It’s an invaluable feeling to walk into a room—or better yet, a packed pool party—and feel completely comfortable and celebrated exactly as you are. BiggerVegas actively nurtures an environment where insecurity is left at the door, replaced by the freedom to be fully yourself, regardless of your size or shape. It was a powerful thing to witness and be a part of—a space built specifically for us, by us, where every single person felt seen and celebrated.

The schedule was packed, but I didn't want to overwhelm myself. The pool parties were a definite highlight. Picture this: scores of joyous people cooling off in the Vegas sun, dancing to high-energy anthems spun by incredible DJs, and genuinely having the time of their lives. Whether it was a silly round of Aqua-Zumba or showing off our unique style at the famous “Say Something Hat” Pool Party, the energy was pure, unapologetic fun.

Beyond the aquatic antics, the event offered a fantastic mix of entertainment with stuff like Charity Drag Bingo, Selfie Sessions, gaming room, and a live recording of The Big Fat Gay Podcast. The entire weekend flowed seamlessly, a testament to the organisers who clearly prioritise creating memorable, quality experiences for the community. Every corner of the hotel felt like a welcoming haven.

Now, for the one and only snag in my otherwise perfect weekend. And I have to be completely honest: this was 100% my fault. In my excitement and sheer enjoyment of the pool parties and the desert heat, I severely underestimated the Nevada sun. I walked away with a souvenir—a sunburn. It served as a necessary, reminder to reapply that SPF 50 religiously, even when you're having too much fun to notice!

Sunburn aside, my first BiggerVegas was everything I hoped for and more. It was a vibrant tapestry of new friendships, fantastic entertainment, and powerful confidence-building. It reaffirmed the importance of these dedicated safe spaces and left me feeling energized and profoundly happy. I'm so grateful for my boyfriend for making it happen!

If you’re looking for a getaway that is equal parts party, comfort, and community, I'll hopefully see you at the next BiggerVegas... with industrial-strength sunblock!
